Best Practices

For Quality Data

  1. Calibrate sensors before important rides
  2. Start recording before moving
  3. Check connections in first minute
  4. Keep device charged for long rides
  5. Save immediately after finishing

Data Completeness

Priority data streams:

  1. Power (most important for cycling)
  2. Heart Rate (backup metric)
  3. GPS (for mapping/segments)
  4. Cadence (for efficiency)
  5. Temperature (context)

Activity Naming

Good naming helps organization:

  • ❌ “Morning Ride”
  • ✅ “Tempo Intervals - River Loop”
  • ✅ “FTP Test - 20min”
  • ✅ “Recovery Spin - Post Race”

Privacy Settings

Activity Visibility

Control who sees your activities:

  • Visible to all Stride users
  • Shows in team feeds
  • Appears in segments

Privacy Zones

Create areas where GPS is hidden:

  1. Go to Settings → Privacy
  2. Add Privacy Zone
  3. Set center point (home/work)
  4. Choose radius (200m-1km)
  5. Activities auto-hide GPS in zones

Integration with Other Platforms

Strava Upload

If connected, activities:

  • Auto-upload to Strava
  • Include Stride data
  • Match privacy settings
  • Sync comments back

TrainingPeaks Export

Export your data:

  • Individual .FIT files
  • Bulk export option
  • Preserves all metrics
  • Compatible with most platforms

Tip: Star important activities to easily find them later. Use tags for organization (e.g., “intervals”, “race”, “test”).
